Miley Cyrus has now become a quadruple threat: singer, actor, twerker, and now an artist.
If you’re like me and follow Miley’s Instagram religiously, then you might have questioned Miley’s photos for the past few months. The photos all seemed to show the singer’s weird neon coloured art projects and rainbow loom bracelets. Well now all the technicoloured crafts make sense. It was Miley preparing for her debut into the art world.
Miley held her first art show last night in New York as apart of designer Jeremy Scott’s NYFW fashion show. The show entitled “Dirty Hippie” featured Miley’s crafts for the past months. She even created the jewelry featured in the fashion show.
Fashion and music elite came out to support Miley and Jeremy Scott with guests including Kris and Kendall Jenner, 2 Chains, and Bella Thorne.
Miley’s show featured random items like air fresheners, beads, and fake flower petals, and gifts from fans that she glued together. Some of the pieces include a five-foot bong and a joint covered vibrator. Ummm, okay.
I’m not sure art buyers would want a decorated vibrator in their house, even if it is a Miley Original.
Now, while Miley’s art may not look conventional the inspiration behind it is actually pretty interesting. When asked about her unique pieces Miley said, “At the beginning of this year, I hated 2014 because everything that could go wrong kept going wrong. Being in the hospital, my dog dying…Everything just kept sh-itting on me and sh-tting on me. So then I started taking all of those sh-t things and making them good, and being like, I’m using it. My brother and my friends all said that’s what they felt I was doing. So, that’s how I started making art. I had a bunch of f-cking junk and sh-t, and so instead of letting it be junk and sh-t, I turned it into something that made me happy.”
At least Miley is happy. To me it looks like Miley raided her local dollar store and just learned how to use a glue gun. But I’m no expert on art. I’m not the only one confused by Miley’s art. 2 Chains needed a little explanation from the artist herself.
